An altered boardbook project design.
I began with the idea of the game" Candyland" altered to "Zettiland". After a lot of thought I decided on going through the mental stages involved in altered art as the different "lands" in the Zettiland Game. So, beginning with a blank gessoed board book spread...

I looked at a Candyland game and chose colors for my areas. A tree to begin with and a napkin butterfly for the end of the Zettiland road.

I added the different Zettiland "Lands" using Zetti stamps and altered catalog pictures.

I then added the road made from some game pieces I had, the title made with alchohol ink stained plastic letters, and a booklet explaining the Zettiland adventure. Here is the story.

ZETTILAND STORY

THE ZETTIFRUIT FROM THE ZETTI IDEA TREE BEGIN THEIR ADVENTURE AS SOON AS THEY ARE PICKED. AND SET ON THE ZETTILAND PATH.

THEY FIRST TRAVEL TO THE LAND OF THE MAD INVENTOR. HE SORTS AND ARRANGES THEM TILL HE IS PLEASED WITH HIS HANDIWORK AND TOSSES THEM BACK ON THE PATH.

THE NEXT STOP ON THE PATH IS THE MIRE OF INDECISION. THIS FORBIDDING PLACE IS RULED BY THE TWIN SPECTERS OF “DOUBT” AND “FEAR”. UNWARY ZETTI SOMETIMES

LOOSE THEIR WAY.
IF THE BRAVE ZETTIFRUIT GET PAST THESE DANGERS THEY WILL FIND THEMSELVES IN THE HALL OF REFLECTIONS.
